After the release of BBM for android running android version 4.0 also known as icescreem sandwitch and above, so many people are having problem using BBM on their android phone running ginger bread 2.3 and below.well, there is still hope to use BBM for your android phone that is running either 2.3, 3.0 etc if you can take the bold step in tweaking it.so if you are making use of any android phone or device that is running ginger bread like HTC, SAMSUNG, tecno N7, p3, d3, lg, here is the step to get it working for you
you have two option to get it working for you.first option is to update your phone to the latest android OS version and if you are lucky that the maker of the phone has such update, then you are good to go, while the second option will require you to root your androd phone or device and flash a new ROM to update your android version to 4.0 and above.

yes you head me right.many of us are afraid to root their phone due to bricking or damage it but that's one of the thing you would need to do to start using BBM on your phone.if you can't do the rooting, then take it to an expert to do it for you.
most android phone requires unlocking bootloader before rooting it while some don't require it.phones like HTC, SONY EXPERIA etc requires you unlock bootloader for permanent rooting while phones like samsung galaxy, tecno android don't require such.
after rooting it, flashing an updated ROM is not that difficult.the difficult thing is searching for android ROM that is compatible with your phone or device because you can't just flash any kind of ROM.there are large numbers of ROM you can search for but i will recommend most ROMs like Cynogem rom (CM), AOKP, PACMAN, PARANOID, slim bean, etc.just search on google for the listed rom and download.
you will have to flash and test run any one of the recommended ROM and see which one would be compatible with your phone.to be on the safe side, please don't forget to make a nandroid backup before flashing any ROM.i mean making a full complete android backup which include all the system of the phone.after flashing, you can then go ahead and install BBM for android and enjoy pinging on your android phone.that's all, ENJOY
