i have been battling with unknown connection that is eating up my data usage for some time now and still wondering what is really happening.but recently after doing some research, i managed to come up with a little solution to fix such problem by controlling my internet bandwidth with the help of a bandwidth monitoring and control software called netlimite.
NetLimiter is an ultimate internet traffic control and monitoring tool designed for Windows. You can use NetLimiter to set download/upload transfer rate limits for applications or even single connection and monitor their internet traffic Along with this unique feature, Netlimiter offers comprehensive set of internet statistical tools. It includes real-time traffic measurement and long-term per-application internet traffic statistics.what this software does is to monitor and control the internet connection and the software that are making use of such connection.
in as much as i disabled avast automatic update,the software still runs in the background.i also noticed other hidden applications that were running in the background,eating up my data usage.with the help of netlimiter software, i was able to control the internet usage and also assigned bandwidth limit to this software running in the background
netlimiter software enables you to monitor, control and assign bandwidth limit to any software that is using your internet connection in the computer.you can limit the connection by assigning bandwidth limit, for example, you can assign any amount of kilobyte, megabyte,gigabyte to a particular software that is making use of your internet connection which may either kill the connection to that software or improve it depending on the amount of bandwidth you give to the software.since i noticed that some unnecessary software were running and using my internet connection, i had to assign 1 kilobyte to each of them to kill their connection.you may say that is not fair but i have to do it,not bad.
