you can disable avast automatic update especially when it is sucking up your internet data and make use of manual update option.recently i have been trying to figure out what has been eating up my internet subscription when using it on my computer.i subscribed to airtel 2GB internet bundle plan which is now 1.5GB and within 2 days the whole subscription will be exhausted without downloading any stuff online.due to this problem, i had to cross check my computer to see what is really eating up all my data subscription.the problem was traced to avast automatic update.by default avast antivirus is set to automatically updates its virus definition and software but you can disable avast automatic update if you want.that is what i did to resolve the problem.so if you are experiencing same problem, then this post will guide you on how to disable avast antivirus automatic update
often time, immediately my fastlink modem is connected to the computer, i will notice that the data will start to read and the data transferred would increase up to 2-3 MB and keep reading when i have not even launched my web browser or any other software that makes use of internet.i had to disable my windows automatic update and still yet the problem was not resolved.
i got stuck and try to figure out what went wrong,immediately AVAST antivirus pop up a notification message saying "avast virus definition has been update.that was when it got to me that avast has been the sucker that has been sucking up my internet subscription all this while.immediately i had to disabled it and everything got normal.follow the step below to disable yours.

How To Disable Avast Antivirus Automatic Update
==> i will assume you are using the latest version of avast which has a new interface,if yes, then click on avast to run it,then at the left side bar, click on SETTINGS=>UPDATE.
==> you will see two option which is Virus Definitions and Program
==>Under Virus Definitions, just click on the SETTINGS which has a small arrow button,an option will show up, you can choose whether to update it manually or avast should notify you to update it.in this case, i will select Manual.
==> after selecting manual,scroll down to program option and click on the SETTINGS which has a small arrow,it will show up same option to choose manual update,do that and click on OK button
you are done.avast automatic update has been disabled,so each time you feel like updating it,then you will have to manually update it from avast dashboard.that's all,ENJOY.
